On April 24, 2015, Operation Broken Silence and First Evangelical Church partnered together to accept donated school supplies for the Endure Campaign, the only ongoing fundraising campaign supporting educational intiaitives for the Nuba Mountains of Sudan.
Collectively, you gave $767 worth of school supplies and financial contributions! Here are a few other noteworthy results:
- Several of you joined us on our first Periscope livestream.
- We gave some shoutouts on Twitter to some of our supporters who swung by.
- Six area churches got in touch with us throughout the day to let us know they will be collecting supplies leading up to our next drop off day. Exciting!
- Our good friends at Choose901 helped us spread the word about the day. Check out their blog post »
Thanks to everyone who came out to support our efforts! A special thank you to supporter Maria Cox for helping us put the drop off day together!
I Missed Out! Can I Still Participate?
Absolutely! Here's three great ways you can support Nuba refugee schools:
Wait, What's Going On In Sudan?
Since 2011, the government of Sudan has waged a brutal war against the people living in the country's Nuba Mountains. Schools, clinics, and markets are systematically bombed on a daily basis. Hundreds of thousands of people have been forced to flee their homes.
Over 25,000 children have fled to the safety of refugee camps. Fledgling schools in these camps have been started by the people, but all of them are underfunded, under-resourced, and overwhelmed with growing needs. Operation Broken Silence began the Endure Campaign in December of 2014 to provide support and created a stunning documentary film about these children. Watch the film below.
