The 2016 Eden's Run 5K is on Saturday, October 22 at Shelby Farms Park! This is the 7th year for this incredible event and we hope you will join us. Eden’s Run 5K is our annual, family-friendly run/walk event that benefits our education, emergency relief, and storytelling efforts in Sudan.
In 2009, high-school student Eden Siskind started this special race to benefit war orphans in Sudan. Eden is off to college, but her legacy of helping the Sudanese people is still going strong through this annual event.
Now Is The Time To Register!
There are 2 big registration deadlines in the next few days:
1. Register by Sunday, October 16 to ensure you get a t-shirt and runner bag. If you register after October 16, we can't guarantee you either one.
2. Free registration through the $100 fundraising challenge ends on October 17. If you are not signed up to fundraise before then, the only way to register after this date will be to pay-to-enter.
Race day registration is $50 and we can't guarantee you a t-shirt or runner bag, so take the 60 seconds it takes to register online and sign up right now!
Our goal this year is to raise $15,000 for our education, emergency relief, and storytelling efforts in Sudan. 45 runners have raised nearly $5,000 already. By registering right now, you can help us reach our goal by race day!
5 Reasons To Register Right Now
1. This Event Supports An Underserved Cause
The crisis in Sudan is one of the biggest global issues in the world today, yet it receives very little attention. Right now, millions of people in Sudan are taking a stand against one of the most violent and oppressive governments in the world. More on that here.
Operation Broken Silence is one of the only organizations in the world that is consistently using the power of documentary film and photography to show people what is happening in Sudan. We then use our media to inspire people to get involved by fundraising for and giving to our education and emergency relief programs on the ground in Sudan.
By registering right now for Eden's Run 5K, you're standing up and saying that this is important and needs more attention. REGISTER TODAY »
2. Big Goals Mean That Every Runner Counts
Every year, Eden's Run 5K has had a fundraising goal that has never been met. This is the year we change that! We have two goals we need your help reaching this year:
- Recruiting over 150 runners before race day.
- Raise $15,000 by the end of the event on October 22.
With two registration options this year that separate fundraising from entry fees, it is easier than ever to register, ask your friends to join you, and fundraise if that is the registration option you choose. These two goals are easily attainable if we all pitch in. REGISTER TODAY »
3. Your Friends Will Register If You Register
Last year A LOT of runners waited until the last minute to sign up and were unable to reach their fundraising goal. The reason why? Many runners let us know they signed up late because they were waiting to see if any of their friends were going to sign up.
There's about 80 of you who have pledged to register this year but still haven't done so.
By registering right now, you will be giving your friends and fellow runners a reason to not wait until the last minute to register. This will go a long way in helping the people of Sudan! REGISTER TODAY »
4. Registering Early Means More Time To Fundraise
If you choose to register for free by accepting the $100 fundraising challenge, then registering RIGHT NOW is especially important for you! Registering now means you have more time to fundraise and aim at winning one of our fundraising awards! And remember, if you don't hit a minimum of $100 raised on your personal fundraising page you have to pay the remaining amount on race day to run. So, better to knock that out now and not have to worry about it!
If you choose to register by paying the entry fee and skipping fundraising, earlybird registration has already ended. General registration is now $40. You'll still want to register now though because race day registration is $50 and we can't guarantee you as race bag and t-shirt. REGISTER TODAY »
5. This 5K Is For Everyone!
Eden's Run 5K is on a certified 5K course and is a timed run/walk, but that doesn't mean that this is a 5K only for serious runners! Whether you are training for a bigger race or just enjoy the occasional 5K run/walk with your family, this event is open to everyone. Jogging strollers are welcomed for the really little ones and if you have kids 13 years old and younger, they can join you for free.
