Giving Is For Everyone

a story by you, about you, and for you

We wanted to learn more about why our supporters believe giving is so powerful and why they chose us as the beneficiary of their generosity. Watch the above video to hear what they had to say.

Everyday our staff and volunteers are inspired when someone gives to our mission for peace and justice in Sudan. People have jumped out of airplanes, written personal letters, and hosted events all to raise money for what we do.

As a niche nonprofit with limited resources, giving is about so much more than keeping our doors open. It’s about more than our important work and difficult mission. These things are critical components of giving, but it’s also about the person who is giving from their time or wallet.

We recently asked a few of our top supporters why they think giving is so important. Here’s what they had to say.

Brandon believes giving is a two-fold opportunity. We have the opportunity to give to others because our situation allow us to. More importantly, giving is an expression of us seeing the opportunity in others who are less fortunate than us. It’s not about pity, it’s about investing in someone’s potential.

Stephen understands that giving reminds people they have not been forgotten. We hear a lot from the Sudanese that they feel the world has forgotten their plight and that we’re the only ones who care. We also get a reminder when we give of what really matters: helping others improve their situation.

Lee knows that even though we’re half a world away from Sudan, we’re still able to help. When we give, our resources go where most of us cannot physically go. There’s a big difference between acknowledging a need and actually doing something to meet that need.

Matt understands that giving allows us to educate ourselves and others about what is happening in Sudan. As we give over time, we learn more and become more engaged in getting others involved. The people of Sudan aren’t looking for a miracle, they want more people to do what they can.

Start Small And Simple

Only you can decide to be a part of something bigger than yourself.

Whether you give your time, talent, or money, there are a lot of problems in our world you can join others in helping to fix. The best way to start is small and simple. Brandon, Stephen, Lee, and Matt decided to be part of something bigger than themselves by giving a few bucks a month to our work in Sudan. It took them less than a minute to signup and they’re bringing sustainability to everything we do. They’re ordinary people doing something extraordinary together!

We’re looking for more people to lead by example. Our goal by the end of the year is to find 50 people to join these 4 amazing individuals in giving what they can every month. Not only are they bringing sustainability to our work, but more importantly they are living out the belief of being a part of something bigger than themselves. Our hope is that you will join them.
