November 27 was #GivingTuesday! This marked the 5th year of you fundraising and giving on this global day of generosity. Our campaign centered around the education program that we sponsor in Yida Refugee Camp, South Sudan, specifically the new Renewal High School we are helping to open there next year.
Here are your fundraising and giving results:
The funds you raised and gave will be used to help build and stock the first two classrooms at the new high school in Yida Refugee Camp, South Sudan next year. You can learn more about this special school here and find additional opportunities to support teachers and students further down. Thank you, thank you, thank you for coming together to help get this school open!
But today wasn't just about raising money, it was also about reaching a larger audience with your passion for the Sudanese people. Thanks to your social media posts and emails, you reached over 14,000 people concerning Sudan and our work there. You also brought your friends together online to tune into this year's livestream, which you can watch below:
And throughout the day on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter you made sure our social media posts frequently took the top spots for our home city of Memphis, TN's #GivingTuesday campaign #GritGrindGive.
We closed out the day's festivites with our first ever Giving Tuesday event at Crosstown Brewing Company here in Memphis, TN! Some of our Memphis movement members dropped by throughout the evening to celebrate the day's success and the new high school.
These numbers will continue climbing through the weekend as late and offline donations come in and people continue sharing our social media posts and our livestreams. #GivingTuesday is just one day of the year after all. Our mission and your efforts are active every other day of the year as well.
Speaking of that, here are a few additional ways you can help support the new high school as we approach the end of 2018.
The people of Sudan are overcoming two of the greatest challenges facing humanity today: war and genocide. Here are a few ways you can join us:
1. Join The Renewal. This is our family of monthly givers who never stop pushing the needle forwards. They give automatically each and every month, providing consistent support to our Sudanese partners. Renewal members who give $25+ a month also get free tickets to our two annual events. LEARN MORE »
