you showed up in a big way

Posted by OBS Team on June 14th, 2015

June 13 was a pretty amazing night! We hosted our 3rd annual beer tasting fundraiser at Playhouse on the Square in Memphis, TN. 73 of you joined us to celebrate our work in Sudan and we raised $8,037 in 3 hours! We want to thank everyone who came and celebrated the evening with us!

The People

It was a good mix of old and new friends. You mingled, drank, ate, gave, and bought merchandise, all for our mission of peace and justice in Sudan. Simply put, you brought the magic. You were a part of something bigger than yourself for a few hours. We also caught your bright faces on camera.

The Beer

Buster's provided us with several high-gravity brews that ranged from a classic saison to a chai-tea infused imperial stout. Local favorite Wiseacre pitched in a keg and Central BBQ provided some great food. We definitely weren't lacking in the drinks and eats department!

Near the end of the evening our guests voted on their favorite brew. The winner was the tasty Azazel by Wiseacre!

So What Happens Next?

Our next event Bowling For Sudan is on July 18, 2015. This event is a cosmic bowling fundraiser to provide educational assistance to over 30,000 children who have fled the brutal war in Sudan’s Nuba Mountains. Fledgling schools in refugee camps have been started by people from the Nuba Mountains, but all of them are underfunded, under-resourced, and overwhelmed with growing needs.

Operation Broken Silence launched the Endure Campaign in 2015 to help support these schools. Funds raised from Bowling for Sudan will go to the campaign and supporting education in Nuba refugee camps!
