Every holiday season is fun and exciting, but for most of us it is also an extremely busy time of year. This holiday season we are taking a lot of the work out of giving for you with our Holiday Season Giving Guide! This guide is simply a selection of some of the best ways you can support the people of Sudan this holiday season. Here they are!
1. Give To Education In Yida Refugee Camp
Nuba children are facing an education catastrophe as schools have been bombed and burnt to the ground by the Sudanese government. That's the bad news. The good news is that you can do something about it! Your donation will put teachers back to work, students back into the classroom, and deliver needed resources like pencils, paper, books, and chalkboards to new schools in the camps. GIVE HERE »
Since 2015, we've put 8 teachers back to work who are serving over 750 students every week in Yida Refugee Camp. LEARN MORE »
2. Give To Emergency Relief Efforts In The Nuba Mountains
The government of Sudan has been blocking official humanitarian aid to the Nuba Mountains of Sudan for over 5 years now, but that hasn't stopped us from reaching men, women, and children with humanitarian relief. Your donation will help us continue breaking this humanitarian blockade by providing desperately need emergency food, seed stock, and medication directly to frontline communities. GIVE HERE »
Since 2012, we've reached thousands of people with humanitarian relief despite the official blockade. LEARN MORE »
3. Give To Mother of Mercy Hospital
There is one hospital in the Nuba Mountains of Sudan with a single surgeon: Dr. Tom Catena. Mother of Mercy Hospital serves a population of nearly one million people underneath the shadows of Sudanese government warplanes. Your donation will help support this overwhelmed hospital so that Dr. Tom and his Nuba colleagues can continue saving thousands of lives. GIVE HERE »
It's not unusual for Dr. Tom and the local staff to see up to 400 patients in a single day. Each year they serve thousands who are suffering from war-related wounds and disease. LEARN MORE »
4. Send An E-Card
When you look at any of the first giving options above, you probably noticed that there is an option to "dedicate my donation in honor or in memory of someone". If you complete this section of the donation page, you can send an e-card with a brief message to a friend or family member letting them know that you gave in honor of them!
The first three giving options have two e-cards associated with the program and two general holiday-themed ones. If you would like additional holiday e-card options, we have setup another donation page that has more! SEND AN E-CARD »
5. Donate By Check or Investments
If you'd prefer donating by check, please make your check payable to Operation Broken Silence and mail to our official P.O. Box: Operation Broken Silence, P.O. Box 770900, Memphis, TN, 38177-0900.
If you would like your donation to go to one of the above projects, simply write the project name in the memo line and we'll make sure it goes there!
Another great way to give is through your portfolio! Simply download our Stock Transfer Form, follow instructions to formalize and execute your charitable gift, and be sure to email the completed information on page 2 to the contact provided on the form. These steps will inform Operation Broken Silence of the proposed donation and ensure that you receive a receipt of your gift for your tax records. DOWNLOAD FORM »
