How To Maximize Your Fundraising Page's Features To Drive Donations

Posted by Audrey Tetzeli on December 19th, 2017

People are more likely to give to individuals than organizations. The more personalized your fundraising page and communication to donors are, the more people will get involved by giving!

Once you have your fundraising page started, have quickly personalized it, and have your fundraising appeal message written, it's time to start making progress towards your goal. Here we'll go over some tips to leverage the power of your fundraising page's features to quickly make progress towards your goal!

1. Use The Update Feature

This one seems straightforward, but it’s first on the list for a reason. So many fundraisers don’t take advantage of this feature, but as storytelling is critical to successful fundraising, you should be sharing how your personal story fits into our organization’s larger one.

There are so many ways to use the Update feature, but here are a few of our favorites:

  • Individual and organization-wide goal progress
  • Shout outs to donors
  • Noteworthy stories from Sudan
  • Impact stories
  • Campaign and organization information

You can click or tap the image above to see a sample of an update. To use this feature, head on over to your page and click MANAGE in the top right corner. You’ll then select the STORY tab, and then UPDATES. Hit CREATE NEW and you'll be ready to enter your update!

Once you've posted your update, it will appear on your fundraising page for donors and potential donors to see!

2. Say Thank You On Your Page and Track Donors

A timely thank you after a donation is one of the most important interactions you will have with your donors. When you show gratitude and appreciation for a donor’s gift, you give your donors a feeling of recognition and goodwill—which are the warm, fuzzy feelings that encourage people to give again later.

We've made it incredibly easy for you to make sure you have thanked each of your donors. To use this feature, head on over to your page and click MANAGE in the top right corner. Them navigate to the DONATIONS tab where you’ll see a list of donors along with the amount of their donation.

To the right, there is either a grey check mark or a button that says THANK. If you see the THANK button, that means you haven’t replied to that donation on the activity feed. Click  or tap THANK to get started. Your message will appear on your fundraising page at the bottom!

You can also use this feature to see who has given and who has promised to give but has not done so yet. This is especially useful if you are using the Donor Tracking Sheet, which has helped our fundraisers see a 40-60% jump in donations!

3. Email Donors A Thank You Message

Thanking donors on the activity tab is a great way to engage them in real time and show that they’re connected to your fundraising efforts, but to further show your appreciation, you should send an individualized thank you message via snail mail or email. When a handwritten card isn’t feasible, a personal email demonstrates your gratitude and is easier to execute. To make things even simpler, your fundraising page includes a thank you template in the dashboard.

We've made it incredibly easy for you to make sure you have thanked each of your donors via email. To use this feature, head on over to your page and click MANAGE in the top right corner. Them navigate to the EMAIL tab and select the Thank Your Donors option. You can copy the message there, paste it into an email, and add a little more to personalize it and make it your own!

4. Customize Your Headline

Your headline is one of the first things people see when they visit your page. Because of this, you want to use your headline to communicate exactly why people should stick around a little longer and give.

Include a short message, quote, or call to action that will capture the attention of potential donors.

To use this feature, head on over to your page and click MANAGE in the top right corner. Then navigate to the STORY tab and update your headline at the top!

You only have 180 characters in your headline, so make them count!

5. View The Pace Report In The Overview Tab

Everyone wants to know that their donation makes a difference, and there is something so exciting about making the donation that pushes a campaign over the finish line. In fact, people are more likely to donate when a campaign is close to hitting its goal, so make sure that you are sharing your goal progress with supporters.

To make a goal seem more attainable you can break it down into daily donations. Although it’s the same amount of money, raising $10 a day is a lot more manageable than raising $217. If math isn’t your strong suit, then don’t worry, we have your back.

To use this feature, head on over to your page and click MANAGE in the top right corner. Then simply scroll down to the  chart that tracks donations made over the last five days. Here you can see the total number of donations, average gift amount, and how much you need to raise per day to reach the goal. Boom!
