March 2015 Relief Mission

to frontline communities in the Nuba Mountains

Posted by OBS Team on April 8th, 2015

In March of 2015, one of our End Nuba Genocide Coalition relief teams delivered over 60,000lbs of food, seed, and medical relief to frontline communities in the Nuba Mountains of Sudan. A small amount of school supplies was also brought in. Thanks to the contributions of several fundraisers and over 200 donors, this was our largest relief mission to date.

People in the Nuba Mountains of Sudan have been living in emergency conditions since June of 2011, when the government of Sudan launched a relentless campaign of terror and death against their communities. Aerial bombings of civilian infrastructure occur daily. The Sudanese government has officially banned all aid and media organizations from the Nuba Mountains in an attempt to cover it’s crimes. The deteriorating situation here has become a forgotten conflict for much of the world.

But there is hope. With the help of hundreds of people around the world, we are ignoring the humanitarian blockade and bringing desperately needed food, seed stock, basic medicines, and school supplies directly to these people. These relief missions are the only way to directly help the Nuba people. It sound crazy, but the only crazier thing we can do is nothing.

Each mission is made possible by people just like you. We invite you to support these efforts by starting your own fundraising campaign and pledging to raise $250 from your friends and family. Together, we can help our friends in Sudan.
