To see Dr. Tom Catena, many of his patients travel for days on foot, in carts, or often cradled in their mother’s arms. Welcome to the Nuba Mountains of Sudan, where the government has attacked defenseless men, women, and children with supersonic bombers, and it hasn't made anyone’s newswire.
The only surgeon within 200 miles, ‘Dr. Tom’ refuses to leave and does his best to save lives underneath the constant threat of war, treating as many as 400 patients a day at Mother of Mercy Hospital. Access to basic medical supplies is extremely limited. The hospital depends entirely on donations to treat the wounded and train the staff.
You can support Dr. Tom and his Nuba colleagues by starting a fundraising page and asking your friends and family to join you by giving towards your goal. The money you raise will support the lifesaving work being done every day at Mother of Mercy Hospital.
If you can't commit to fundraising right now, we encourage you to leave a lasting impact by making a contribution towards the Heart of Nuba campaign. There are three ways to give:
1. Give Monthly. You can sign up to automatically give a certain amount each month to Mother of Mercy Hospital through this campaign. GIVE MONTHLY »
2. Make A One-Time Donation. Not ready to fundraise or give monthly yet? Don't worry, you can still give once. MAKE A DONATION »
