Your #GivingTuesday Results!

Posted by OBS Team on December 2nd, 2015

Yesterday was #GivingTuesday, the one day of the year dedicated to the nonprofit sector. We celebrated this special day in a big way by removing transaction fees from online giving and putting 100% of your gifts towards our lifesaving storytelling, education, advocacy, and relief programs!

#GivingTuesday Results

We updated our movement throughout the day on their giving progress with emails, Facebook posts, and tweets using some of our best photos and a really happy video!

You gave a total of $7,383 and 100% of that is going to our programs!

But today wasn't just about raising money, it was also about reaching out to more and more people. Thanks to your social media posts and emails, we estimate that you reached about 18,000 people concerning Sudan and our work there. You also helped us top 2,000 Facebook fans. That's pretty amazing!

And here in Memphis, our tweets took the top spots for the local giving hashtags #Give901 and #gritgrindgive.

To all of you who gave and helped spread the word: thank you, thank you, thank you! This was only made possible by your generosity.

What Happens Next?

In the next few weeks, the funds you raised and gave will be dispatched to our media, education, and relief programs in Sudan. Yes, we move that quickly! For those of you who gave, we will be reaching back out to you in 6 months to show you how your gifts were used!

#GivingTuesday is just one of several ways we are moving towards a peace and just Sudan in our lifetime. The best way you can stay involved with supporting our lifesaving work is to start a fundraising page for our next documentary film and pledge to raise $200!

To date, our documentary films have introduced over 500,000 people to the crisis in Sudan. Your personal fundraising page is the perfect way to keep growing our movement. Not only will some of your donors stay involved with Sudan, you will also be helping us to create another film that will introduce even more people to the crisis there.
