About

Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an international medical humanitarian organization created by doctors and journalists in France in 1971.

Today, MSF provides aid in nearly 60 countries to people whose survival is threatened by violence, neglect, or catastrophe, primarily due to armed conflict, epidemics, malnutrition, exclusion from health care, or natural disasters. MSF provides independent, impartial assistance to those most in need and reserves the right to speak out to bring attention to neglected crises, to challenge inadequacies or abuse of the aid system, and to advocate for improved medical treatments and protocols.

OBS Support

Medical care is heavily needed in regions were genocide, war, and humanitarian catastrophes are widespread. Doctor’s Without Borders frequently goes into atmospheres such as these to ensure that those being persecuted are given appropriate medical care. MSF is one of the few international emergency aid organizations that refuses to leave war zones or regions where genocide is underway, even when MSF staff could be placed in immediate danger.

Because of this, Operation Broken Silence supports Doctor’s Without Border’s work to ensure that those suffering from armed conflict and other humanitarian catastrophes are given appropriate medical care. OBS also supports MSF’s right to speak out publicly when aid work is being manipulated for political reasons or when direct acts of violence are made against their volunteers.
