About
ICDI, or Integrated Community Development International as the full title, is a non-profit based organization working in central Africa, focused on developing local leadership and empowering local communities to overcome difficult problems on their own. Drilling wells, providing for orphans, AIDS/HIV awareness and prevention, shortwave radio community development broadcasting, agricultural development, and microenterprise development are the primary areas of focus for ICDI.
ICDI is currently operating out of three primary locations in the Central African Republic. The capital city of Bangui is the headquarters for ICDI administrative staff, as well as the primary orphan care center, and the primary AIDS/HIV training headquarters. Just north of Bangui, ICDI’s short-wave radio station transmits from the town of Boali. In western C.A.R., Berberati is the primary center for the well-drilling and well-repair crews, with storage facilities for supplies and a full garage capable of complete vehicle rebuilds and pump repairs. ICDI’s agricultural development program is also currently located in Berberati, although a larger more permanent center is currently in the planning stages. A second orphan care center is also located in Berberati.
OBS Support
Sustainable humanitarian aid that provides the above things to communities in need in African conflict zones is paramount on the road towards a peaceful and secure Central African Republic. Operation Broken Silence supports ICDI because of their efforts to provide more than humanitarian aid in the often lawless C.A.R. By training communities to become more self-sustaining, while simultaneously providing drilling equipment for wells and taking care of orphans, ICDI is ensuring that communities will become less dependent on international aid over the coming years and move closer towards complete self-sufficiency.
How You Can Help ICDI
It is simpler than you think. By donating money to ICDI you can ensure that orphans will be cared for and communities across the C.A.R. will be empowered to change their country for the better.
