About
In the spring of 2003, three young filmmakers travelled to Africa in search of a story. What started out as a film making adventure transformed into much more when these young men from southern California discovered the horrific tragedy of Uganda’s civil war. Since the completion of their trip, the group’s film has been viewed worldwide.
Invisible Children is the most powerful activist movement working on behalf of the victims of northern Uganda’s devastating civil war, most of which are children. Over the past few years they have raised millions of dollars to expand education, microeconomic efforts, and relief work in refugee camps and villages. They have also led the political charge for pressuring the U.S. government into taking more concrete steps to help bring the war to a permanent end.
OBS Support
Due to their large success in nearly putting an end to “night commuting,” expanding education, and helping refugees invest for after the war, Invisible Children was an obvious choice for Operation Broken Silence to support. Their work across northern Uganda has helped to change tens of thousands of lives, pressured the U.S. government to take more action, and begin the ending of the devastating civil war that has claimed hundreds of thousands of lives. By turning apathy into action, Invisible Children has guaranteed that Uganda will not be forgotten by the rest of the world.
